Volvo Cars of N.A. LLC., is recalling 42,211 XC90 SUVs due to the potential for a fire to start in the engine compartment. When the vehicles battery is removed and then reinstalled, it is possible that the crank handle for the jack, which is stored next to the battery, may become lodged under the bracket that is used to retain the battery. This can cause the battery to short out which could result in a vehicle fire. Dealers will inspect the recalled vehicles and install approved warning labels on the battery retainer. This will be provided free of charge.
