Foreign Tire Sales, Inc. is recalling 255,000 tires due to defects that could increase the chances of the tires suffering a tread separation. The company states that while the tires do meet federal motor vehicle safety standards, they do not meet the minimum requirements set by FTS and as such, are being recalled. The tires have insufficient gum strips which can increase the chances that the tread could separate from the tire body. The recall includes tires sold from early 2004 through mid 2006. The tires were sold under the Westlake, Compass and YKS brand names.
